Catholic Stocking Stuffers: 10 Meaningful Gift Ideas for Christmas
Stockings are often filled with small things that are forgotten by New Year. Catholic stocking stuffers can be different: small gifts that quietly point back to the reason we celebrate Christmas at all. Here are ten ideas for children, parents, godchildren, grandparents and friends.
1. A Christmas prayer card
A prayer card is small enough for any stocking and meaningful enough to keep all year. Choose a card with Nativity art and a Christmas prayer or Bible verse on the back, like our Holy Family Christmas prayer card with Matthew 1:23, or Nativity Light with Isaiah 9:6. Browse all of them in our Christmas & Advent collection.
2. A rosary
A simple wooden or cord rosary is a classic Catholic stocking stuffer. For children, choose one that is sturdy and easy to hold, and tuck a small card with the mysteries of the rosary beside it.
3. A saint card for their patron saint
A card of someone's patron or confirmation saint makes a very personal gift. A St. Michael prayer card is a favorite for fathers, sons and godsons, and St. Rita is loved by anyone carrying a difficult intention.
4. A Miraculous Medal
The Miraculous Medal is small, inexpensive and full of meaning. Pair it with our Miraculous Medal prayer card, which carries the prayer "O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee."
5. A small Nativity ornament
An ornament of the Holy Family brings the manger onto the Christmas tree, and many families add one new ornament each year.
6. A pocket Advent or Christmas devotional
A small booklet with a short reading for each day helps keep prayer going after Christmas morning, through the Christmas season to Epiphany.
7. A Marian card for mom or grandma
For the mothers and grandmothers in your life, a Madonna and Child card with a blessing of comfort is a gentle gift. Our Mother of Tenderness and Holy Mother of Peace cards are made for exactly that.
8. A blessed candle
A small candle for the family prayer corner, blessed by your priest, reminds everyone that Christ is the Light of the World.
9. A journal for prayer intentions
A simple notebook to write down prayer intentions, and later the prayers that were answered, is a lovely gift for teens and adults alike.
10. A set of cards to share
For catechists, teachers and anyone who loves to give, a set of 10 or 25 prayer cards lets them pass on a small blessing to their whole class, prayer group or family. All our cards are available in sets of 5 to 100.
A little tip
Whatever you choose, add a handwritten note telling the person you are praying for them this Christmas. That small sentence is often the part of the gift they remember most.
